Bibo Runge Hargardun Rheingau Riesling Trocken 2016

From 25+-year-old vines in Hallgarten and Oestrich, macerated for 24 hours and fermented and aged for 12 months in 1,200 liter oak Stücks, the 2016 Rheingau Riesling Trocken "Hargardun" is the big brother of the generic Rheingau Riesling. The wine displays a white golden color and a deep, complex, rich and elegant bouquet of ripe white fruits, brioche/pastry as well as yeasty and discreet oaky aromas. Full-bodied, intense and complex on the palate, with good grip and lingering minerality, this is a very elegant and persistent Riesling with very fine tannins and a lovely dry and structured finish. Since his little brothers are already of gorgeous quality, I recommend cellaring the Hargardun for at least five years and drink it over two decades. - Stephan Reinhardt.
