El Cabernet franc de Chozas Carrascal 2017

Chozas Carrascal is a Vino de Pago in Valencia, renowned country for the Bobal grape. The Lopez family found the site in 1990. The wine that charms me most in their line-up is the Cabernet F or Familiar, their Cabernet Franc. The bonus of course, for a Vino de Pago, which is its own denomination, is that it can plant its own choice of varieties. Single varietal CF can be heavy going, not for nothing is it favoured as a blending ingredient. Here though it makes a supple, fine-grained wine, laden with violets and blackcurrants. Organic, sustainable.
