Els Escurçons 2015

There was a big fire in the Els Escurçons vineyard during the 2015 growing season, and the 2015 Els Escurçons has a faint smoky note that doesn't dominate but is subtle, clearly reflecting what happened that year without taking over the personality of this higher-altitude vineyard that they work on red, iron-rich slate. The smoky, toasty note is a little more noticeable on the palate. It slowly fermented in 380-liter terracotta amphorae for a very long time and was kept in glass demijohns; it never sees any oak. They only produced 1,000 bottles in 2015, a lot less than the average.
