The 2017 Elle de Landaluce is a blend of Tempranillo with 10% Graciano, and it matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for one year. As in previous occasions, I found that the profile is more modern and the wine shows more influence from the élevage in oak. But there are nice aromatics, dried flowers and black pepper, smoke and spicy oak that make it quite showy. The palate is medium to full-bodied with dusty tannins that require food. 12,000 bottles were filled in July 2019.
A very meaty red with charcuterie, BBQ sauce, cloves, blackberries and tar and vanilla. Full-bodied and intense. There’s just enough tannin and acidity to hold this together. Drink in 2021.
