Consistently among my favorite Saint Joseph bottlings, the 2018 Saint Joseph Passion de Terrasses shows wonderful balance, concentration and length. It's an elegant, harmonious mélange of redcurrants and cherries, crushed stone and pencil shavings, plus more savory hints of black olives and leather. Medium to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, it's smooth and silky from start to long, long finish.
The 2018 Saint Joseph Passion De Terrasses is outstanding yet, as with the Terroir de Granit, needs 2-3 years of bottle age. Lots of blue fruits, violets, crushed stone, and barbecue smoke-like notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, balanced Saint Joseph. With good acidity and ripe tannins, it will evolve for 10-12 years.
