The Wine Advocate:

The 2008 Las Luces is pure Garnacha from a very old, single-vineyard plot that produces very concentrated grapes. The wine is aged for 20 months in new, 500-liter French oak barrels and is only produced in exceptional vintages. This 2008 will be released in early 2015. The wine starts off quite muted and serious with oak aromas clearly perceptible at first. There is a good core of red and black cherries, some spice and aromatic herbs and a touch of tree bark lending an elegant rusticity. It evolves well in the glass with the fruit blending nicely with the oak-related notes and revealing freshness with blood orange, almost citric, hints. The palate is medium-bodied, with abundant, fine-grained tannins and good acidity. A slow aging wine that should develop further in bottle and resolve some of the remaining tannins with time. 6,700 bottles produced.
