Decanter:

A benchmark wine. On the nose it’s creamy and leesy with a citrus note promising penetrating freshness. So it proves in the mouth: it’s full-bodied, textured, bright, layered with elegant oak, but balanced by the long crisp finish. The 2018 vintage was one of Milmanda’s freshest with more rain than usual, in the spring in particular. The must was fermented in 300-litre barrels (80% new French oak), followed by four to six months in oak barrels, and 100 months lees ageing in vat. Lovely now, but will age well. Drinking Window 2021 - 2028.

James Suckling:

Dried chamomile, pomelo rind, dried apple, crushed stone, blanched almond and waxed lemon on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with bright acidity and a creamy, lightly waxy texture. Excellent concentration and length with delicious almond and stone notes. Drink now or hold.
