The Wine Advocate:

The white 2016 Monopole Clásico Gran Reserva is the third vintage of this Viura selection from the village of Villalba de Rioja vinified as the Monopole Clásico from that vintage. It fermented in cask and was kept in three well-seasoned 400-liter oak barrels and two 500-liter Sherry botas (sherry butt), where the wine matured until they bottled it in October 2021. It has moderate alcohol (13.5%) and very good freshness and acidity parameters (pH of 3.24 and 6.28 grams of acidity). It has a complex nose with notes of mushroom and yeasts, reminiscent of the smell of the old caves, complex and nuanced with a round and soft palate very much in the style of the great old whites from Rioja. It finishes long and dry and feels young and with potential to age. 2,730 bottles produced. (Luis Gutiérrez)

Tim Atkin:

This is a hugely atypical - even unique - style of white Rioja, made with Viura from CVNE's La Plana vineyard in Villalba and 10% Manzanilla from the Sherry region. Rich, deep and profound, with savoury intensity, sea salt and lemongrass flavours and undertones of sourdough and white flowers. 2023-32.

James Suckling:

This is an intensely flavorful white with aromas of lemon curd, apricots, buttered toast, lime zest and cedar, with salted almonds, olives and grilled herbs. Lengthy and concentrated, with a full body and oily layers. Sherry-like notes. Keeps going. Drink now or hold.
