The Wine Advocate:

The red blend 2016 Pago El Espino always has a Petit Verdot base, and in this balanced and fresh vintage, it's complemented by 24% Syrah and 11% Tempranillo, each fermented and aged separately. I find cleaner aromas and less ripeness here than in the previous year, and this has a quite classical profile, with some spicy and earthy aromas and a medium-bodied palate that reveals fine-grained, polished tannins. It matured in 225-, 300- and 500-liter barrels for 15 months, after which 50,000 bottles were filled in June 2018.

James Suckling:

A dense and flavorful red with dark-berry, blueberry and cherry character on the nose and palate. Full and delicious with soft tannins. Drink now.
