Planeta Cometa 2018

The 2018 Sicilia Menfi Cometa is a unique wine that has about half the creaminess and richness of the special Didacus bottling (that is of course Chardonnay) but with more quirky authenticity and brightness here. The grape is Fiano, and this age-worthy variety tends to offer abundant pear and Golden Delicious apple. There is some creamy Sicilian puff pastry on the close.

Fresh nectarines, preserved lemons, orange blossom and guava peel are all on show here. Despite the intense fruitiness of the stone fruit, the acidity is cutting and precise, highlighting bright-citrus undertones that permeate the medium-to full-bodied palate. Drink now.
