Quinta Do Crasto Superior Syrah 2019

The 2019 Syrah Superior, from 2004 plantings, is a Douro-sourced Syrah (it also has 3% Viognier). It was aged for 16 months in 35% new French oak and comes in at 14.9% alcohol. An utterly delicious and polished Syrah, this is elegant, silky and fresh yet also very concentrated and capable of expressing its fruit well. There's a backbone too, but in typical Crasto style, the tannins are beautifully managed. You can drink this now or a decade from now. After that, take it in stages. I'm less sure it will improve much, but it seems likely to hold well. For the moment, let's lean up for its elegance and delicious fruit. There were 24,536 bottles produced, plus some large-format bottles.
