Suertes del Marqués Medianías 2015

"A red that was born in 2014 trying to deliver more complexity than 7 Fuentes is the Medianías. Now in its second vintage, the 2015 Medianías is pure Listán Negro from two old vineyards that are on clay soils at 350 to 450 meters altitude and pruned with the cordón trenzado method. It fermented in concrete vats with 10% of the stems and indigenous yeasts and matured in used 228- and 500-liter oak barrels for nine months. It's less expressive than the 7 Fuentes, perhaps due to the use of the smaller barrels, but it has the signature volcanic Listán character. 2,300 bottles were filled in August 2016."
