Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta 2012

The 2012 Viña Pomal Alto de la Caseta did it again! In the warm and dry 2012, the Tempranillo grapes from the slope vineyard around the Alto de la Caseta were harvested earlier, on September 20th, and what was harvested went through a severe selection to discard any grapes that were anything but perfect. The nose shows great balance and impressive integration of the oak, even if you leave the wine in the glass for a very long time. There is surprising freshness and elegance. It's nuanced, complex and Elegant (with a capital E). The palate shows no fissures, it's a solid wine with a great core of clean fruit, coated but perfect acidity providing superb balance and freshness. Impressive. 2,100 bottles were filled in May 2015.

An aromatic nose of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries with coffee undertones. Full body defined by a pure strawberry character on the palate. Juicy yet firm tannins and a long, mouth-watering and savory finish. A structured and ethereal Rioja. Better in 2020.
