Abel Mendoza Guardaviñas 2016

The non-sulfur red 2016 Guardaviñas, the fourth vintage of this cuvée, is pure Tempranillo from a biodynamically farmed vineyard; it was cropped from a warm year, but some rains in mid-September delayed the picking. This fermented with natural yeasts (with a pied de cuve) and matured in barrique (40%) and in tank (60%) for 11 months. This is aromatic, expressive and clean, elegant and nuanced, with very good freshness and harmony. The wine is not marked by the process, and it reflects the year, grape and place without any deviations, in a simple, pure and precise way. This is the best vintage of this bottling so far. 2,134 bottles were filled in October 2017.
