Tim Atkin:

Abel Mendoza's Viura is a textbook example of the grape, showing just how good it can be if the vines are old. This uses building blocks from 14 parcels in three different villages, and has delicious extract, focus and concentration. Fermented in new French oak, with some added texture from bâtonnage, it has aniseed and wild flower aromas and flavours of lemon and greengage. 2024-30.

The Wine Advocate:

The varietal white 2022 Viura is from old vines in different vineyards, and it fermented in French oak barrels, where the wine matured with fine lees and periodic bâtonnage for five months. It has 14.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.21 and 5.25 grams of acidity, and it's powerful and round, with a subtle nose with notes of hay and straw, a more Mediterranean and riper vintage, a little more expressive. It has a powerful palate with a pungent mouthfeel and persistence. 3,346 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2023.
