The Wine Advocate:

"The always pale and subtle varietal 2013 Merenzao is produced with Merenzao (aka Trousseau) grapes planted some 30 years ago on south-facing, slate slopes. As with many of their reds, the full clusters were foot trodden and fermented with indigenous yeasts in open top 600-liter oak barrels, élevage of almost one year in 300-liter French barriques and some time in vat before bottling. As always, this wine is extremely perfumed with an intoxicating bouquet of dry roses, violets and water lilies, wild red berries, pomegranate and watermelon. The palate shows tremendous inner power with a shaft of clean, searing acidity that makes you salivate and ends in a salty, mineral aftertaste. They did it again in 2013! Bravo Algueira! This is a locally sought after bottling of 5,300 bottles filled in December 2014".

James Suckling:

A merenzao (or trousseau) that shows its pure and genuine character. Medium to full body, fine tannins and layers of cinnamon, black pepper and dark fruits. Serve slightly chilled. Drink now.
