Artaxo 2021

The 2021 Artaxo is pure Garnacha from two old vineyards in Artajona and Artazu that are organically farmed but not certified. It fermented with 15% full clusters and indigenous yeasts and matured in used 300- and 500-liter French oak barrels for 10 months. It has good ripeness at 14.9% alcohol while keeping a low pH and remarkable acidity. This is serious, harmonious and different, with lots of acid berry fruit. It's textured and telluric, mysterious and characterful, with a medium to full-bodied palate and volume but freshness. 2021 seems to be a very good vintage here. 1,200 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2023. No 2020 was produced.
