James Suckling:

Attractive nose with a hint of walnut husk and dark earth to the black cherries and sweet tobacco. A hint of truffle and sous-bois, too. Medium-bodied on the palate with firm, dusty tannins that grow and extend in a long, succulent finish. Tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo. Wine Enthusiast:

Deep violet to the eye, this wine has a nose of black plum, dark chocolate and dried hillside herbs. Bold red berry flavors are joined by plush tannins and deeper notes of mocha, truffle and thyme. As flavors and textures wind down on the palate, a note of orange zest remains.

Decanter:

Lovely aromas of sandalwood, violets, rose petal, leather and liquorice. The palate is quite concentrated, with a lovely combination of ripe fruit and sweet spice.

Proof that big companies can make large volumes of wine to a high standard, Matías Callejo's textbook Reserva is an assemblage of Tempranillo with 4% Graciano and 1% Mazuelo. Structured, polished and spicy with fine oak integration, silky tannins and a balsamic lift. 2023-30.
