Campo Eliseo Blanco 2014

"I tasted the top of the range, 2014 Campo Eliseo, a couple of weeks before bottling. It is a barrel-fermented Verdejo from estate vineyards in the village of La Seca that matured in barriques for nine months. I found better integrated oak compared with the 2013 (which I tasted side by side), and François tells me they discarded a couple of barrels that marked the wine quite a lot; the final blend shows good white fruit, some aromas of hay, straw and a pinch of spices. It is quite fruit driven and fresh in the nose. There is a good structure here and moderate acidity. To me, I wouldn't mind some more freshness. Only 7,000 bottles will be filled in August 2015 a couple of months earlier than other vintages, so with two months less oak than before."
