"The 2010 Coleccion 125 Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is one of the flagship, barrel-fermented Chardonnays from Navarra and from Spain. Produced from grapes planted in the year 2000 in a vineyard called “Granja de Legardeta” in Tierra Estella, this wine would fool many into thinking it’s a Meursault premier cru from a good producer and a decent vintage. The vintage is indeed quite good, but the producer is the Chivite family from Navarra. This is a creamy, oak-fermented Chardonnay with good balance, acidity and purity, not unlike a wine from Roulot. A fine thread of acidity and focused flavors will repay patience. Steep pricing, though. Drink 2014-2019".
La conexión de la familia Chivite con el vino data de 1647. Así lo atestigua un documento notarial con el que Juan Chivite Frías y su cuñada pidieron un préstamo avalando una viña y una bodega.
