The Wine Advocate:
"The 2012 Finca La Rana is produced with their youngest vines, plus some purchased grapes form vineyards they control. The wine matures in used French oak barrels for some ten months, yet the nose does not show any oak-related aromas; it's more about soil and fruit, with some aromas of peat, earth, wet slate, ripe blackberries, and also Mediterranean herbs and licorice. It reminded me of a Douro red with a lighter palate, very fine tannins and lively acidity that make it refreshing, almost effervescent. A worthy follower of the 2011. This wine is a very good value. 80,000 bottles produced".
