Cropped from a warm year that also saw an early harvest, the 2015 Gago fermented in 6,000-liter stainless steel and oak vats and matured in a combination of barriques (20%) and oak foudres for 14 months. It started with a slightly lactic nose that turned into black fruit with contained ripeness, very poised for the conditions of the vintage. The oak is perfectly integrated, and the wine is medium-bodied, with chalky, fine-grained tannins and is nicely balanced, with a dry, austere finish. A noteworthy wine, elegant within the powerful character of Toro. 46,536 bottles produced. - Luis Gutiérrez.
