A blend of equal parts Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, Sergent's NV Extra-Brut Premier Cru Le Chemin des Chappes went to bottle in January 2017 and was disgorged in June 2018. Even with such a short time on the lees, it's showing brilliantly, bursting with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, frangipane, fresh peach and confit citrus. Full-bodied, vinous and beautifully balanced, its crisp but enveloping core of fruit is underpinned by succulent acids and a delicate, low-pressure mousse. This derives from two parcels in Vrigny: the sandy Les Grands Chemins, planted in 1972 and easterly exposed, and the silty, west-facing Les Chappes, planted in 1982.
