2018 was a cooler and rainy year with some fungus, but the high yields of the year enabled the wines to keep the volume. The 2018 Exsum Vermell, a pure Xarel.lo from older and younger vines, was selected from the first pressings to get very high quality must. It fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and was kept with the lees for some six months in tank and then put to referment in bottle, where it matures with lees for no less than 42 months, but he likes to keep the wines without being disgorged until he is going to sell them. This vintage went through 50% malolactic, and it keeps the freshness but has a faint creaminess. It's clean and precise, sharp, tasty and dry, with small, integrated bubbles. 8,000 bottles produced.
