Kimera 2015

The amphora-aged 2015 Kimera is pure Garnacha from San Martín de Unx produced as a joint venture with a friend, Luis Moya. It fermented in stainless steel and went through malolactic and ten months aging with lees in terracotta amphorae. It's quite clean and focused, with a notable absence of earthy aromas often found in amphorae reds, more about red berries and a mineral, limestone touch. That is more noticeable in the palate, with fine, chalky tannins and moderate acidity denoting a warm year. I'd love to see this in a fresher vintage. 4,000 bottles were filled in April 2017. - Luis Gutiérrez.
