Along with the 2012, I also the chance to taste the 2013 Llanos del Almendro, which is sourced from the same old vines as the 2012 but from a cooler year. The élevage was also 16 months, but on this occasion, they used 25% new barrels, 50% second use and 25% third use. Even though this 2013 is still a bit young and might not be released until March 2019 or so, it has great texture and freshness with elegant, fine-grained tannins. This is more in line with the 2010 than the 2011 or 2012. Only 787 bottles were produced. It was bottled in July 2015.
