9 hails from a parcel called Llano in high-altitude Gumiel de Izán. The 50% new French oak is on the assertive side right now, but this is a young wine with the structure and concentration to develop convincingly in bottle. Serious, dense and focused, with chalky intensity, sinewy tannins and a core of liquorice and blackberry fruit. 2023-29

James Suckling:

 Blackberries, mulberries, chocolate orange and licorice on the nose. Roasted walnuts, too. It’s flavorful, chewy and full-bodied with firm tannins. Pleasantly rustic. Try in 2024.
