A rich and rather decadent Rioja with ripe berry, tobacco and bark aromas that follow through to a full body with layered, creamy tannins and a long, fresh finish with lemon peel and apple to the dark fruit. Touches of coconut and toffee. Drink or hold.
Paco Hurtado used 10% Cabernet Sauvignon in this 2015 Gran Reserva, alongside Tempranillo and a splash of Graciano, and it's a suitably focused, structured, well-balanced blend, with perfumed French oak, notes of pepper, violet and graphite, graceful tannins, cinnamon sweetness and good palate length. Will develop further in bottle. 2024-32
