The Wine Advocate:

The first wine produced by this new and exciting joint venture between Casa Castillo and Envínate in the region of Jumilla is the 2017 Micrit, named after the small particles that make up limestone. It fermented in underground concrete vats with a portion of full clusters and then matured in 225- and 500-liter oak barrels (but they only used 500-liter barrels in 2018, because they feel Monastrell does better there). It has a slightly more rustic and earthy character than the wines from Casa Castillo, and it's a tad riper too. In 2017, they harvested the two plots at the same time, and in 2018, they did two separate harvests because one of the plots ripens a few days before the other. It has the Mediterranean character with plenty of aromatic herbs and a spicy touch, that tree bark twist. There are 2,700 liters of this wine in 2017, and it will grow to 3,500 liters in 2018.
