The Wine Advocate:

A "bocoi" is a large oak cask, and the 2019 O Bocoi Vello de Silvia was born because they saw some old casks from an old grower and bought one and recovered it. It's a chestnut cask, not oak. So they used grapes from three vineyards from external growers and did a more extractive vinification to get more color (something they did in the past, even with some skin contact). So, the whole clusters were foot trodden and the wine took two days to start fermenting in the bocoi, where it matured with lees until bottling. The idea was to recover the wines from the past, with a touch of rusticity, a fully developed nose and a dry, serious, vibrant and tasty palate. It's a 2,000-liter cask that seems to make some magic. The wine should develop nicely in bottle. 2,560 bottles were filled in June 2020. A superb debut.
