Avaliação dos peritos

Tim Atkin:

Pago de Santa Cruz is located, like all of Jesús Sastre's vineyards, in the famous village of La Horra and is a 75-year-old parcel at 814 metres on clay and limestone soils. Exhibiting the freshness and balance that are so typical of the 2014 vintage, with less power and fullthrottle flavours than some of his wines. Lightly wooded, balsamic and finely wrought, with some spice and sweetness from a mix of older French and American oak. 2021-26

The Wine Advocate:

"The single vineyard 2014 Viña Sastre Pago de Santa Cruz felt more influenced by its time in oak and should require some more time in bottle. There are plenty of smoke, toast and oak aromas and also wood-related flavors. The wine didn't seem to have the depth of fruit that I remember from the first vintages of this bottling. Maybe 16 months in new American oak barrels is a too harsh treatment for the juice? Would it ever come into balance? 13,000 bottles."
