The Wine Advocate:

The same as with the white, there's also a 2014 Phinca La Revilla Sexto Año Tinto, a red matured in barrel for six years. It's Tempranillo from a plot planted in 1920. The wine has subtler aromas, and the balsamic nose that is somehow the signature of the reds here seems softened by more tertiary aromas. The wine is polished and sleek, a little austere. It's 14% alcohol and has good acidity, perhaps a little overdone in the élevage. 2,400 bottles were filled in January 2021.

Tim Atkin:

La Revilla is a characterful old vineyard in Elvillar - each plant has its own, individual stake - planted on white clay and limestone soils. I prefer the white from the same site, but this is still a wine with considerable personality. Deeply coloured, spicy and intense, it has notes of incense and gingerbread with savoury tannins and plum, damson and tobacco leaf flavours. 2022-24
