My pick of David Sampedro's reds comes from a co-planted parcel of Tempranillo and 10% Viura called Tajo, which dates back to 1910. Fermented with a combination of whole clusters and added stems before ageing in new French oak, it's focused, youthful, sappy and well balanced, with a hint of stony reduction, wild strawberry and blackberry fruit, some lavender and pine and a long, tapering finish. 2024-30
