The Wine Advocate:

"The Selección range are modern takes on classical styles, and the 2012 Selección Mónica Martínez Blanco, with its maceration and long aging in used barrels (with even some aging under flor!), is a blast from the past. 2012 was extremely dry and they got lower yields but still the harvest was on October 18th. It's pure Viura from vines planted in 1985, and the selected bunches filled a 5,000-liter tank. It had some skin maceration, was racked and then left until fermentation started. It was then transferred to 225-liter barriques to complete fermentation and 30 months of aging. I noticed high ripeness on the nose with aromas of peach, apricot and other pit fruit, white pepper and spices, turning more balsamic and even minty over time. The palate is juicy with some earthy flavors and notes of ripe fruit. With time in the glass, the spicy oak and the ripe and heady side of the nose become more apparent. This is ready, but it might develop better than you might think. 2,000 bottles were filled in January 2016."
