Avaliação dos peritos
The new wine here is the 2015 Sínodo Los Tollos, sourced from a 0.24-hectare plot planted with Tempranillo and scattered Mazuelo and Malvasía Riojana vines. The soils are stony and quite shallow with a sandy texture. They bought the semi-abandoned vineyard in 2014, and in 2015 they had very low yields. From 2017 onward, it will be in the Viñedos Singulares, the new single-vineyard category of the Rioja appellation. The uncrushed grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts, then part of the wine was transferred to one barrel and the rest to a plastic container for malolactic and 11 months of élevage. It's a remarkable wine for a first effort, especially considering the state the vineyard was in. It has had the advantage of one extra year in bottle compared with the 2016 I tasted next to it and felt quite harmonious and settled, with clean and ripe aromas of fruit and flowers, perfumed and open. The palate was elegant, with integrated oak and focused flavors, very pleasant. Only 598 bottles were filled in September 2016.
