The Wine Advocate:

The 2016 Sínodo Raposeras, from a challenging but generous year when controlling yields was key, was produced from a 0.16-hectare plot planted with Tempranillo (save for five vines of Garnacha!) at 525 meters in altitude in the village of Uruñuela. Grapes were hand-picked as usual, then the wine matured in second and third use oak barrels for 11 months. It felt creamier, oakier and riper than the 2015, following the style I also saw in their Los Tollos from 2016. Maybe the 2016s just need some more time in bottle, but I don't see them as transparent and focused as the 2015s. In any case, I'd like to meet them again in my next round. They produced even less wine in 2016, as only 624 bottles were filled in August 2017.

Tim Atkin:

Sínodo is an exciting new project created by Roberto Monforte, Gorka Etxebarria and Juan Antonio Blanco, who specialise in impressive wines from small parcels, such as this one in Uruñuela. Bright, focused and stylishly oaked, it has bramble and red fruit flavours, fine tannins and stylishly integrated wood. Impressive stuff. 2022-30.
