Suañé Reserva Tinto 2016

The red 2016 Suañé Tinto Reserva was produced mostly with grapes from their main estate vineyard in Villalba de Rioja. It fermented in open concrete pools with indigenous yeasts and matured in used barrels for two years. It is floral and quite perfumed, complex and elegant, with contained ripeness and some sweet spicy notes and hints of chocolate. It has a more exuberant profile than I normally like, but I must admit that I find it quite attractive. The palate is round and balanced, juicy, with fine-grained chalky tannins. 3,684 bottles were filled in May 2019.
