The Wine Advocate:

I don't remember ever seeing a red from Viña Mein, so the 2014 Tinto Atlántico, a blend of local varieties Caíño and Brancellao with a touch of Sousón, is a great addition to the portfolio. The vines are on terraces on slopes where the local vegetation is oak and chestnut trees, east-facing where you get the morning sun. The vines are ten-years-old now. The wine fermented in oak vats with a gentle extraction and with absence of pumping over and any additions. The full clusters fermented with indigenous yeasts for some 60 days. The wine was kept in used 600-liter French oak barrels for one year before bottling. The nose has a combination of acid red fruit with something earthy and leafy (think bay leaf), with good freshness and balance. The palate is sharp, with ultra fine tannins and great freshness illustrated by acid berries. This is a classical cool climate red with the length of the Caíño and the mid palate of the Brancellao. 1,300 bottles were filled in December 2015.
