The 2021 Graciano was created to experiment with a late-ripening variety that, in 2021, reached 14.43% alcohol after a warm and dry summer. The variety was regrafted in 2014 onto plants from 1999. The grapes were cooled down and put to ferment with indigenous yeasts in small open-top vats, and the wine matured in 500-liter French oak barrels for 12 months. It feels varietal, ripe but fresh, medium-bodied with abundant but fine-grained tannins. It is quite young and undeveloped, with nice balance. Only 625 bottles were filled in March 2023.
A direct, fruity graciano with cherries, dark strawberries, white pepper and baking spices. Round and composed on the medium-bodied palate with firm tannins and a simple, fruity finish. Full of cherries and strawberries. Drink now.
