An excellent dry estate riesling with strident chalky minerality. Compact and well structured, with as much depth as many village wines from this vintage. With a little aeration you have generous mirabelle and citrus aromas. Very good length, everything fitting beautifully at the finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
Spanier's vivid white-golden colored 2021 Riesling Eisquell opens with an intensely aromatic yet pure and elegant limestone bouquet that is more than just pretty characterful on the nose. Welcome to the limestone terroirs of southern Rheinhessen! On the palate, this is a round, saline and savory Riesling with a mouth-filling texture and stimulating salinity and purity on the finish that has thoroughly hedonistic qualities. 12% stated alcohol. Screw-cap closure. Tasted in October 2022.
Die Geschichte von Battenfeld Spanier beginnt im Jahr 1991. H.O. Spanier gründete nach seiner Winzerlehre sein eigenes Weingut, welches er von Beginn an ökologisch bewirtschaftete. Sein oberstes Ziel liegt, damals wie heute, in der Wiederherstellung und Pflege der Bodenlebendigkeit.[break]
