Günther Steinmetz Brauneberger Juffer Riesling GB 2016

Made for the first time and sourced from the very best (ripe and healthy) grapes of the Hasenläufer plot, the 2016 Brauneberger Juffer Riesling "GB" offers a perfectly ripe, aromatic, highly delicate and very elegant bouquet of very fine Riesling and flinty notes of iron-rich slate and even red paprika aromas. What a beautiful nose! Picked at 102° Oechsle and with high acidity of 8.2 grams that survived in the wine, this is a highly elegant, vital, crystalline and refreshingly mineral dry Riesling with great purity, elegance and remarkably piquant, mouthwatering acidity. This is a great, super ripe and rich Juffer, but its needs some years to soften the acidity and the still slightly bitter, tannic finish. The finish is very long, slaty-pure and crunchy. A gorgeous, perhaps slightly too powerful wine.
