The Wine Advocate:

The 2019 La Gándara is a a single-vineyard red from a 1.3-hectare plot in the most prestigious lieu-dit of the village of Herreros de Jamuz. It's mostly Mencía with some 10% Alicante Bouschet and 3% Palomino that fermented together with full clusters and indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in 500-liter French and Austrian oak barrels for 14 months. It reached 13.8% alcohol, coming through as ripe but without excess, with notes of iron and blood on the nose. It's earthy and powerful, with intense flavors, ripe berry fruit, herbs and a strong earthy streak. 1,300 bottles were filled in February 2021.
