The new varietal 2020 Prieto Picudo was produced with grapes from one of their oldest vineyards, Viña Leonarda, which was planted between 1903 and 1906 on red clay soils. The full clusters fermented in open-top French oak barrels with indigenous yeasts and French oak barrels for 14 months. It has 14% alcohol but kept a low pH (3.4) and retained notable acidity, one of the characteristics of the grape. It's paler than the other reds, reflecting the character of the variety, a kind of Castilian Nebbiolo, austere and sharp, with a strong personality, ripe flavors and abundant, dusty tannins. 1,380 bottles were filled in February 2022.
Fuentes del Silencio nació en 2013 a orillas del río Jamuz con el fin de revalorizar la viticultura de la zona, recuperar su saber hacer tradicional y elaborar vinos singulares de producción limitada.
