The truly impressive 2018 Viña Escondida follows the path of the already excellent 2016, with precision, subtleness and elegance and the freshness of the vintage, the granite soils and the altitude. This wine has been produced with Garnacha grapes from the same vineyard they have used since 2007. This comes from grapes from the higher-altitude part of the vineyard, as it's a large vineyard and part of the grapes (the best) are used for this wine, while some others are used for Tres Patas, and the lower-altitude part goes to Castillo de Belarfonso. This has a combination of ripeness and restraint, power and elegance that makes it come through as harmonious and balanced, with a fine-grained texture and a long and dry finish. It has the ingredients and they are in sync to allow this to age for a long time in bottle. Awesome. The best vintage to date.

Mountain herbs and pot pourri dominate this old vine Garnacha made from 90 year old vines grown on granite soils. With cherry brandy, burnt orange and woody spice, this is a layered red with just the right amount of evolution. Tannins have softened but still offer just enough bite and despite six years of age, there is still loads of life ahead. Intense yet elegant, this is simply delicious! 2024 - 2030
