The 2009 Maria Bernet is the top-of-the range sparkling wine here and is kept in bottle with the lees for nine years. It has faint smoke and pine tree aromas and is subtle, elegant and very tasty, with an almost salty finish. It is not tired and has very nice balance. The bubbles are very small and integrated, giving a velvety texture. It's very dry and makes you salivate, with a nice bitter finish. 2,000 bottles produced.
Aged on its lees for six months before the second fermentation. Discreet understated aromas with great integration of ageing and fruit expressions. Velvety texture, complex and poised style on the palate, with a multi-layered, open finish. Pure, very dry style. One of the nicest surprises of this tasting.
