I had not tasted the old-vine cuvée for a while and found a big change in the 2020 Pago de Valdoneje Viñas Viejas. It is more refined and polished, with some creamy notes and a hint of cheese and spiciness after 10 to 11 months in used 225-liter French oak barrels. For a warm and dry year, the wine has good ripeness and 14.3% alcohol but displays good balance. 2,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in July 2022.
