Parotet 2020

I think the highlight from the 2020 vintage is the 2020 Parotet, the Arcos-based red blend complemented with 40% Mandó. In 2020 they used a little more full clusters of Arcos at the top of the vat, because they like how the variety behaves with the full clusters and feel that the result is very clean wines with brightness, silky textures and very fine tannins. This matured in their buried tinajas for some 12 months. It's a little riper, with 13.5% alcohol, and has a low pH of 3.36. This is a vintage of ripeness with balance; the wine is long and has depth and keeps the elegance and freshness. The wine is super expressive, the varieties very integrated and the wine aromatic, floral, perfumed, spicy and nicely textured with a seamless mouthfeel. Arcos seems to be a really good variety for this part of the Mediterranean, keeping the freshness and with contained ripeness even when harvested late, and at the same time, Mandó can be harvested early without any herbal notes. And the combination is very good. This is a steal. A textbook Mediterranean red. Bravo! 10,000 bottles produced.
