Badiola L4GD4 2018

Founded in 2018, Badiola produces terroir-driven, site-specific wines from old, low-yielding Tempranillo vines in Rioja Alavesa. Due to DOCa regulations, the vineyard name isn't allowed on the label of its inaugural vintages, hence the code: L4GD4 Laguardia. Taste it alongside V1BN4 (Villabuena) and L3Z4 (Leza). Minimal oak (42% was aged in new and used barriques for nine months) allows the terroir to speak. This is the most elegant of the trio, with plenty of juicy cherry and berry fruit, plus liquorice, a herbal edge and a core of minerality. Nice framework of oak, with well-integrated tannins and plenty of freshness. A great new-wave Rioja. Drinking Window 2021 - 2027.
