Descrição
Vinha localizada a sul e sudoeste de Pauillac. A combinação da barreira natural que constitui a floresta das Landes e a proximidade do oceano Atlântico e do estuário do Gironda influenciam decisivamente a regulação das temperaturas na zona, criando um microclima muito específico.

Colheita
Vindima manual realizada de 12 a 24 de setembro. 70% da colheita do 'château' foi destinada à elaboração deste vinho. A primeira seleção das uvas ocorreu em mesas móveis no próprio vinhedo.
Vinificação
Assim que chegam à zona de receção, as uvas são desengaçadas e selecionadas manualmente pela terceira vez, em mesas vibratórias. Em seguida, passaram por gravidade primeiro para minicubas de sete hectolitros e depois para cada depósito sem necessidade de bombeamento. Adaptação precisa do processo de vinificação ao mapeamento intraparcela da vinha em 80 cubas isotérmicas cónicas de nova geração com controlo de temperatura individual e bombas especialmente adaptadas às operações de remontagem, facilitando a extração de taninos.
Envelhecimento
Estágio de 18 meses em barricas de carvalho francês (75% novas).

James Suckling:

A terrific Lynch from a hot vintage with blackcurrants, mint, dried lavender, graphite and thyme on the nose and palate. Medium- to full-bodied, it shows fantastic tannins with a lovely texture that reminds me of cashmere, becoming slightly chewy in the finish. Give this four to five years of bottle age. Try after 2028.

Decanter:

Blackcurrant and bramble fruit with savoury herbal nuances on the nose, this smells rich and potent. Tense and focussed, compact from the get go, present tannins give grip and hold. This is definitely not out to charm, more serious, stern and focussed but there's such overall precision. This is in high definition, supremely controlled and well worked with mouthfilling ripe tannins. I like the chewy aspect and there’s balancing acidity, hidden now by the density, that will sustain the wine for decades to come. Floral notes and some minerality come through giving the nuance so it’s not all heft, but there’s clear muscle on show. A long finish gives the sense of structure and style. An impressive wine. 95 IPT. 3.71pH. Ageing 18 months, 75% new oak. 3% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 4.1 g/L total acidity. Harvest 12 September - 24 September.

Falstaff:

Deep dark ruby, opaque core, purple reflections, brightening on the rim. Delicate leather and nougat, hints of mint and cassis, black forest berries in the background, orange zest. Juicy palate, complex, blackberries, ripe cherries, some nougat, ripe, supporting tannins, mineral and long lasting, certain ageing potential.

The Wine Advocate:

The 2022 Lynch-Bages is one of the most muscular, chunky wines of the vintage in the Médoc, offering up aromas of dark berries, cherry preserve, pencil shavings and creamy new oak, followed by a full-bodied, rich and extracted palate that's dense and blocky. While Lynch-Bages always seems to come together with time, the 2022 is certainly going to require some patience.
