Tinto da famosa A.O.C. Médoc. A vinha onde são cultivadas as uvas para este vinho está classificada como Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel, a única da zona com esta distinção. É elaborado com Merlot, Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet franc e Petit verdot, um coupage clássico que, de acordo com as primeiras provas, dá origem a um tinto com uma boa concentração de frutos vermelhos e pretos, fresco, suculento e persistente.

A entrega deste vinho está prevista para o segundo trimestre de 2025.

Nariz
Intenso, aromático e expressivo. Apresenta aromas de mirtilo e frutos do bosque, juntamente com notas de grafite e frutos secos e uma mineralidade subtil.
Boca
Poderoso, encorpado, mas equilibrado e elegante.

É recomendado servi-lo a 16 ºC.

Até cerca de 2042, se for mantido em boas condições.

Vinha e preparação

Descrição
Os vinhedos situados a oeste da aldeia de Potensac ocupam uma dupla bacia de argila e cascalho, que abriga os melhores terrenos do campo.
Idade
Algumas vinhas chegam a ter 80 anos.
Solo
Argiloso-calcário e argiloso com pedra calcária.
Clima
Marítimo. Para a adega, 2022 foi provavelmente um dos melhores dos últimos 20 anos.
Colheita
Vindima manual.

Vinificação
Este vinho é fermentado durante 15 a 18 dias em tanques de aço inoxidável.
Envelhecimento
Em barricas de carvalho francês, 20% novas.

Avaliação dos peritos

James Suckling:

Polished and refined with a deep core of ripe berries with walnut undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins and a lingering finish. Deep and complex.

Decanter:

Fragranced, black bramble fruit, so scented and aromatic. Crystalline pure fruit, blackcurrants, cherries and plums, with grippy, but super fine and fresh tannins and balanced acidity. You get the structure - wide, firm, so refined in terms of tannic impression, they're at the fore but so discerning and integrated, really supportive and help to focus the wine from start to finish. Precise and sleek, agile yet concentrated with a lovely cool and juicy core alongside graphite and pencil lead touches. Powerful but polished and ageable. A great buy. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. 3.64pH. 82 IPT.

Jeb Dunnuck:

The 2022 Château Potensac is based on 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a splash of Petit Verdot. It has lots of ripe blue fruits, graphite, and gravelly earth to go with full-bodied richness and depth on the palate. It's a big, rich, tannic Potensac that's going to be long lived. I suspect 3-5 years of bottle age will be warranted here. 90-92+

Aromas of dark berries, cigar wrapper and licorice introduce the 2022 Potensac, a medium to full-bodied, rich and fleshy Médoc with a deep core of fruit and powdery structuring tannins. It's built along similar lines to the 2020.
